一般采區低壓供電線路都比較長，在運行中電纜流過電流會產生壓降而發熱。為保障電纜和電動機的正常工作，在選擇電纜截面時，應遵守以下四條原則：

（1）電纜正常運行時，其實際溫升應不超過絕緣所允許的較高溫升。

（2）按電纜線路工作時的允許電壓損失進行選擇。

（3）電纜截面的選擇要滿足機械強度的要求。

礦用電纜是指煤礦開采工業使用的地面設備和井下設備用電線電纜產品。其中包括采煤機、運輸機、通信、照明與信號設備用電纜以及電鉆電纜、帽燈電線和井下移動變電站用的電源電纜等。
