Milwaukee Brewers rally falls short, Reds win 11-10

I must admit, I wouldn’t have seen the Brewers‘ best offensive output since the All Star break if I wasn’t recapping this game for y’all. I would have given up at 10-2 after five innings…maybe after four. But I kept going, and saw Milwaukee produce 10 runs on 16 hits and 3 homers. That has to be enough to win a game, but no…it wasn’t.

There were some bad pitching lines at Miller Park tonight. Jimmy Nelson allowed ten runs in 32â?3 innings, and Reds‘ reliever Blake Wood allowed five in no innings.

But tonight Homer Bailey beat the Brewers. That’s the Homer Bailey that came in with an ERA of 8.86. Tonight Bailey lasted five innings, enough to earn win #4. Bailey had a very balanced, if not over-spectacular, line tonight…5-5-2-2-5-5 (innings, hits, runs, earnies, walks, strikeouts). No perfect innings, but he worked in and out of trouble.

Jimmy Nelson didn’t have it tonight, and gave up a one out homer in the first to Zack Cozart, had a scoreless second, and then six runs (five earned) in the third. With Craig Counsell trying to get Nelson through the fourth so he could pinch hit for him in the bottom of the …
